Jackie Ryan at LACMA

Jackie Ryan
As you know, if you live here in Los Angeles,
the summer is full of wonderful music and events. There are many places
where you can go to see free jazz concerts and enjoy the music as well
as the great summer outdoor weather. The Los Angeles County Museum of
Art, known to many simply as LACMA, is one of the summer staples for
great jazz. The series is always packed with great surprises and this
week was no different.
This is the first
time that I have seen Jackie Ryan perform and she is wonderful. I’ve
been told that she has been is the business for quite some time and you
can tell that this is certainly a true statement.
She has an amazing
stage presence and is in definite control of her audience. Her voice
soars and is such a pleasure to hear. She really brings some wonderful
things to the music that enhance the standards that we all know so
well.
Of course music is
nothing without the players and she knows how to pick them. On piano
Mr. John Mayer, a gentleman who has a few wonderful discs out of his
own that are a pleasure to listen to. Chris Colangelo on Bass, an
outstanding player. And of course, there is no way we can forget
the drum legend and Master Roy McCurdy, this brotha looks and plays
just as marvelous as ever!
I don’t know where
I’ve been all this time but, don’t be like me, when you see the name
Jackie Ryan, go and enjoy. You will be greatly rewarded!
You can check out her site for more information.
