EXCITING SHOWS UPCOMING AT THE KNITTING FACTORY

 

IF TRANE WAS HERE w/ SAVION GLOVER
SATURDAY, MAY 1; SUNDAY, MAY 2; TUESDAY, MAY 4.

 

Raw and improvisational in performance and tone, this presentation features tap dancing, poetry and saxophone soloing to celebrate jazz through the music of John Coltrane and the groups own originals.  The L.A. Times referred to the performance as a “fantastic dream.”  Savion Glover is an internationally known tap dancer and Tony Award winner, poet/director reg e gaines is a two-time Tony Award nominee and was nominated for a spoken-word Grammy for “Please Don’t Take My Air Jordans.”  Saxophonist Matana Roberts rounds out the musical end of the group.
