Eric Person in New York City at Joe's Pub!

As you can see from the New York Citay article, I had an excellent
trip. A great part of any trip to the NYC is Jazz Music. That is
certainly what I got when I touched ground at Joe's Pub to check out my
man Eric Person.
Eric played with his band Meta-Four and opened up the set with some
of the pieces from his latest disc on Distinction Records, “Live in Big Sur”. I happened to be present for the performance at Big Sur and it was an incredible session.
Joe's Pub is a sweet place in New York
for live performance. The music from Eric's band is exciting,
innovative and thought provoking. Unlike most players, Eric's focus is
on theme and concept. He believes that music should speak it's own
individual voice and not just be a mixture of the same old standards
done the same old way.
Just recently, Eric picked up a mint Condition Selmer Mark VI Alto
Saxophone, serial #160,000 series, Gorgeous! It was a horn whose owner
never took it out of the house and it sounds wonderful!
Eric was joined by singer Gordon Chambers, a brother who sings a
blend of jazz with a touch of R &B. He certainly has some great
influences. He said that he spent time with one of my absolute favorite
singers, Abbey Lincoln. He sang one of her original songs as well as
“Celestial Blues”, a composition written by Andy Bey.
The night was a great success in more ways than one. Joe's Pub will
definately be having Eric and his band back in the future so when you
see the name Eric Person, you will know that ” That's the ticket BABY!”
