In Baldwin Hills, there is a place called Eso Won Books. It is one of the finest places to find Black Books in Los Angeles.
They love, understand and support the music that we love, jazz!
Tonight, it was Dale Fielder and his CD release party for his brand new
disc on Clarion Jazz called, “Suite: Clarity”!
Sweet Clarity is what
you get when you listen to this band play. At Eso Won, the lights were
low, the crowd was intimate and the music was on! Dale was playing such
sweet tones, short and intricate, long and beautiful. He displayed his
talents on three horns alto, tenor and his brand new baby, the
baritone. What a lovely instrument and awesome sound.
Dale was backed up by
Jane Getz on piano, Trevor Ware on Bass and Thomas White on the drums.
Trevor, one of the coolest and nicest guys you ever want to meet, was
and is always so lyrical. He is definitely one of LA’s best. Thomas was
lighting it up on his solo, keeping the time in the ABA.
Jane, so wonderfully bright and melodic, they have been playing
together for quite some time. She provided the perfect backdrop for
Dale played a few
tunes that he wrote inspired by his family, his nieces actually, Rawnie
and Patty. From tunes about the family to the “Giant Steps” of Trane,
Dale Fielder’s music speaks directly to the heart and soul of the
matter! The brass was shinning and so does this wonderful player. With
a number of CD credits to his name, “Suite: Clarity” is out of the box,
on the shelves waiting for you to pick up and enjoy!
