Hi LeRoy My name is Janmei (jan may') and i've been concerned with the state of KLON/KJZZ for a long time--increasing concern as the years advanced. i was web surfing and curiously ran across your JazzCat article rebutting the "All About Jazz Article." i similarly fell upon a local Long Beach newspaper letter to the editor the other day by Susan Valot refuting a misquoted directive to Nick Roman. These articles confirmed my suspicions that there is discord at the station and i just wanted to offer you my support and share that i greatly respect your choice to take the "high road." i've not been keeping abreast of the particulars, but i am getting a "feel" for the happenings over there. i communicated directly to PDs and membership personnel over the years about the station's musical integrity, particularly regarding a couple of key DJs who's knowledge and understanding of the music remains shallow despite their self-aggrandizing misrepresentations and, more importantly, their clout in making/breaking artists. At the risk of sounding elitist, Disney and TV/Broadway show programming themes and similar scheduling options have bothered many of us "purists" in the listening community for quite some time. I stopped paying membership dues a couple of years back as a result. I truly miss your presence, as well as Alfredo Cruz's (although i preferred your tastes to his) and am pleased that Sam Fields is still on board. i will check in with the Jazz Cat on occasion, please let me know if there are any community activities for which you solicit support in the name of Jazz.
