Headlining the event will be Paul Smith, a renowned Jazz pianist who served as Ella Fitzgerald’s conductor and accompanist for more than twenty years and whose trio includes drummer Alex Smith, his grandson. Up-and-coming vocalist Melissa Morgan and drummer Sammy Miller will also perform and feature special appearances during their sets by musicians who have served as mentors.

“We are thrilled to
launch Jazz Through the Generations, which will provide a day of wonderful
music in an idyllic location right on the Pacific Ocean,” said Greg Allen,
Director of Freedom4U, which runs a wide-range of youth and educational
programs in the South Bay. “We hope that this event will highlight the
importance of mentorship in the development of young people and offer
inspiration for budding musicians and artists.”
