Justo my brother. Man you know I love you, your playing and your spirit. I had no idea that you have been through this same treatment. Hydeus has had two surgerys; one on her colon and the other on her liver. The cancer has come back and the tumors are a little bigger. She was admitted last thursday for shortness of breath. She has been breathing oxegen since then and is hanging in there.

Singer and songwriter Hydeus Kiatta is an incredible human being who
has been battling cancer for the last couple of years. Her boyfriend,
jazz radio personality LeRoy Downs, also known as the Jazz Cat, just sent
me the info on a special benefit held for Hydeus. Though I will be away
and unable to attend, I wanted to pass on the information and hope
many of you will be able to attend and show your support for Hydeus.

especially you. Yes, she is an amazingly strong woman, though she is
physically weak. There is a Scripture that I repeat to myself that

was able to breathe on her own. I'm so sorry that you are all going
through such a rough time. I would think that her illness really brings
into perspective what is important in life. There's a lyric from

I'm so glad I was able to talk to you last night. Now the suffering has ended and your lovely girlfriend is at peace and very comfortable with God our father who has never left her side, or yours!!
That was great that she was able to experience the benefit and see and feel and hear all the love and support for her & also realize ALL the people whose lives she has touched including people who she has never met (like me).
Gods continued blessings to you and her family, I called and spoke with her mother this morning (she sounded really good).

I am so very sad that Hydeus has gone from this world.

Your family was the first one I got to know during my
exchange year in the US. I immediately loved the

exists in your family. These are the values that you
taught Hydeus, and this is what she spread out in her

Right now, I am at a loss for words. Hydeus' news is shocking and incredibly difficult to know. I am so sorry for your loss, for Hydeus and the tragic nature of her passing, for her family and for the musical community that has lost such a beautiful and devoted vocalist.

Death, at its most brutal, also holds a majesty that only those who are intimate to it, like you are now, witness. I know this brilliance because John and I lost our first-born child, Amaly, two years ago. There is nothing in the world that can rival how beautiful it is to hold your loved one as they are dying. Nothing. As ironic as it sounds, that is the gift that the dying give us when they are on that threshold and cannot give anything else. I applaud and admire you for your courage in standing by her and loving her - I am certain it has helped her spirit find its way.
