Hey Gina,

That is not a bad idea! I always have a question mark on my face when someone tells me that they love jazz. I usually respond with a test. I give them 5 seconds to name 3 jazz people that they love. More times than not, the two peoples names that you mentioned come blasting out of their mouths.

There is nothing wrong with adult contemporary music but, they should call it that. I find that there is a great shortage of women who love the real deal. If this music had more women listening, getting, understanding and appreciating the music, the world would be a better place!
My girl really loved the music. That was an instrumental part in our relationship and I hope that her spirit will come back to me in the form of another beauty possesing the same sentiment!

Jazz DJ extraordinare - was cycling through some mini-disks that I made about 7 years ago while helping a small outfit out over in Luxembourg; As I had nonstop broadband access to the net I checked out to see if KLON had gone online. Well... To my astonishment there it was... and was streaming live - right then. Needless to say, I rigged up my mini-disk for record, and started inserting blanks.

From then on I was working like a sponge. The backdrop was that I'd been listening to Bubba Jackson's and your show before I went over to Europe in 87. Not knowing when I'd be back I made about a million miles of cassette tapes and took all of them with me. Man! What a foresightful move that was too!

Well, here was your show and man... I don't need to tell you that it was subliminous extradorinarious! But hey... we both knew that hunh?!

Anyway, as I've been back stateside now for some months I had a random thought to pop into my head and wondered about where things KLON had gone in all of that time - and there was your show... yeah!

I guess that was the long way around to ask my question - there was this Saint John Coletrane maximum extradorinaire piece that he'd done called "Spiritual" I've got the "live At the Village Vanguard" (I think that was where he first did it) version; you can hear this mild pattering of applause in the background - wow... guess that those folks had no idea that they were witnessing history being made, right there before their very eyes. Anyway... the piece that you played was a milder, gentler, smoother version and seemed to be a studio version. I don't think that Eric Dolphy was playing on the contra-basoon on this set, but it was beyond hip hip hip.

I'm just wondering if you would be able to advise me on which album that one was on...

I had such a great time playing and programming beautiful music on the air. I had recorded a few of my shows on cassette tapes as well so I also get a chance to enjoy some nostalgia
I am not quite sure which particular tune you might be referring to. It could be something from the Africa Brass album on Impulse records. Whenever you get a chance to hear John and Eric together, it is pure, unadulterated, spiritual bliss!
