I don't know if you know, but, this beautiful woman can really sing! Hydeus Kiatta ( pronounced Hyde-us) is an absolutely marvelous singer/songwriter who has performed in San Francisco's finest jazz venues, Monterey, Big Sur, New York City, Denver, the Pacific North West as well as venues over seas in Berlin and Copenhagen. On July 15th, she once again blessed the stage with not only her wonderful presence, but an array of music which blends together influences from Jazz, Folk and the Middle East.

A true “Bohemian Girl”, Hydeus sang songs as original as her name and delivered them to a warm and very receptive crowd. With a new band this time that features some of today’s up and coming players around Los Angeles, Hydeus sang brand new tunes as well as those from her disc on Noir records called “On the ground I walk”. This disc is a wonderful arrangement of original pieces influenced from her travels throughout Morocco, Denmark and Ethiopia as well as folk music from her upbringing.

On piano, Derrick Finch was in the house playing such very exciting percussive styles and laying down some lovely melodies. Ryan Cross, always a joy to watch, loves the bass and you can feel that love when he plays. Chris Steele handled the drums and percussion in the finest of fashion. On time and all up in the pocket!

The amazing Charles Owens stopped by to join in! He sat in and added his outstanding finesse and poise to make the set even more exciting! The great singer Spanky Wilson was also in the crowd listening as well.

Music from Hydeus’s disc “On the Ground I walk” and her new tunes as well can all be listened to on a site called Mperia .com.
