Dear Kiatta family and Lee...what an inspiration Hydeus was for Dan, Elisha, Lincoln and myself. Even my brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Kristine from Portland, Oregon were blessed to meet Hydeus and Lee and have them stay with them on their trip up to Oregon. As well as my neices Katie and Kelsey in L.A. They had the opportunity to meet wonderful Hydeus at Elisha's graduation from Pepperdine in 2004. They all sensed immediately what an incredible woman she was. I have been keeping them informed with all the updates you have sent. Thank you for those updates. They were greatly appreciated. Elisha calls Hydeus her "hero" and I believe she was that for many. Our hearts are saddened but also grateful that we were able to get to know such a wonderful woman. I had the pleasure of making music with Hydeus on a number of occasions and am grateful for that experience and for her friendship. Although we haven’t met, I know she revered you and the boundlessness your love for her is obvious as well. That is something so beautiful time can never diminish it. I can’t begin to imagine the depth of your loss, but I feel for you and the Kiatta family.

I'm thinking so much about you these days.
I'm constantly on your website looking at all the pictures of Hydeus and you together. I'm wondering if she looked very different from her normal, healthy self these past couple of weeks. Then I thought that I'd send you a couple of pictures of Hydeus. Maybe that's comforting as the next couple of weeks pass by, to look at other peoples photos of her.
I hope all the arrangements that you have arranged as part of her passing over are running smoothely. I imagine that there are hundreds and hundreds of people there to share your grief. That is a comforting thought actually.

I am doing nothing here. This weekend has been a strange one. When I found out that Hydeus is no longer with us I was alone, because I'm sick and in bed these days. I bought some grave candles and a huge bouquet of pink and ivory white longstemmed roses and went to Sorens grave. I lit a candle for Hydeus and one for Soren, put the flowers in water and stood there for a moment, asking for peace and healing to all of us, and eternal bliss for our loved ones... Today I did some laudry, cried a little. Looked at all the evidence of Hydeus' once-being-here in my surroundings, the socks I'm wearing, the glasses I'm drinking of, the cup Freja is using, the jeans Freja is wearing, the many, many pictures around me of my healthy looking girlfriend. And now she's gone.

I'm so sorry to hear about Hydeus. it's difficult to understand that
she's gone when you're as far away as I am.
Last time I saw her, here in Denmark, she was vibrant and full of
life, as she always was. It's easy for me to picture her face and
laugh and hearing her distinc voice and the way she spoke danish. I
remember Lee actually singing "brød, brød, brød, vi vil ha' brød" from
the musical she was in at Faaborg Gymnasium way back when. Christian
and I met up with her and Lee in Santa Babara when we were there for a
wedding in 2004. It was so great that she never forgot about our
shitty little country.
As Maja's littlesister I really looked up to Hydeus and my favorite
phrase from that musical will always be her singing to the weak Louis
XV: "Så må du vise mig at du er en mand" (then you must show me that
you are a man) twanging 'man'.
The audience thought it was a stoke of genious to let the part of
Marie Antoinette be played with an accent, but that everybody could
tell that Hydeus really WAS danish!

Hydeus touched a lot of people and she will surely never be forgotten.
I wish you all the strength in world in the days to come and I am
comforted by the thought that you seem like a strong and loving family
that can help each other through.

You have been in my thoughts since your call on Sunday. I’m sorry I could not be there Monday for the services but I know you had lots of love a support around you.



You know I understand the pain of losing a loved one and of losing one to cancer (both my parents). Words are so inadequate at this time, everyone has words and they are helpful but only time can ease the intensity of your emptiness. There are still mornings I cry in the shower as I think of Sean. Sometimes I have to replay every part of that Valentine’s day, from morning to nite, to prove to myself it’s real and that he is no longer here. The missing never goes away, it just gets easier to deal with because you remember all the wonderful times and sharing. The blessing, for me, idea that soothes the pain, is that I might have never known this wonderful man (what if we had not adopted Sean) and so, as crazy as it sounds, I’m grateful to mourn because it means I did have the time & sharing that means so much to me.



You are so blessed to have found Hydeus and was able to spend however much time, with someone so special. I don’t understand the how’s & why’s of life (and less so with each year), but I trust that there is a wisdom that guides us through this journey. There must be, how do people come into each other’s lives at the moments they do? It can’t just be random, ‘cause the rhythm is to perfect to just be chance.

I hope the funeral was a beautiful and moving goodbye for all of you.

I know how exhausted you must be.
My God, I only remember it too well...
Today it was 3 years since Soren's funeral.
I'm going to light candles for him and Hydeus again today at the grave.

Was Hydeus buried at a cemetary, will you have some place to go and put flowers and remember her as time goes by?

Last night when I closed my eyes to fall asleep (around 3 pm your time) I saw this bright, bright light, almost like white fire and Hydeus in the middle of it, smiling widely. It was such a strong image, I almost felt like opening my eyes to see if she was really there, but I knew that the only way I'd keep the image of her vividly in front of me would be to keep my eyes closed and just stay there with her.

It is such a strange idea that my love and your love are beyond this world together now. I read a book last year that gave me so much comfort as to what happens when our loved ones pass away. Maybe you will like it as well, I don't know beacuse I really don't know you taht well... - but check it out, it's called "The Lovely Bones"

Obviously, by the email address, you have never met me but I wanted to email you regarding Hydeus.

Living around the corner from her family, we grew up calling her Heidi. Through mutual family friends, the Olsens, our families met and then, happened to move into the same neighborhood. As kids, we all played together, went roller skating and riding bikes around the neighborhood. I can remember spending time in one another's backyards imagining wild stories, played out on one another's jungle gyms. Birthday parties, trick-or-treating - all these memories are what my sister Nicole and I have laughed about over the last week - truly memories we couldn't have remembered without Hydeus passing.

Because of time and family moves we lost track of our old friends but my parents kept up with the Kiattas and Hydeus's illness through Randi Olsen, or Mrs. Randi as we all referred to her. An odd thing happened on the afternoon before Hydeus passed away - I guess it was the afternoon of the 7th. I was dropping off my husband at a job, somewhat by the Kiatta's home. Mr. Kiatta asked me in the car and I had this overwhelming thought to pray for the family and obviously, Hydeus. I thought about calling my mom to see if she'd heard anything new about her and what I assummed was her recovery. Obviously, earthly recovery was not to be.

I am so very touched by your website and obvious dedication to my old friend. What a beautiful woman she is and the pictures of her with family, you as well as her performing, portray an amazing individual. I only wish I was able to spend time with her as a grown-up. My sister commented after viewing your website "she looked so passionate and happy".

Please take care of yourself. As I hope you already know, there are so very many people who love Hydeus and therefore, stretch out arms to you. I have thought about you often over the last week and hope you are able to find peace and comfort. Please forward my deepest regards to the Kiattas.
