When you put ingredients together you are bound to have a great time. However, when you also add love, synchronicity, creativity and extraordinary talent, you not only have a success, you have an unparalleled experience.

Lunaria jazz and supper club was the epicenter of music and celebration when Hydeus Kiatta packed in a crowd that traveled from as far South as San Diego, East as West Covina and as far North as San Francisco and Monterey. The “not suppose to say” year old singer sensation performed with such energy and enthusiasm singing her version of jazz standards and originals steeped in Folk and Bohemian roots. These magic musical moments are no strange phenomena for this “Bohemian Girl” She has performed in venues throughout Europe, the Mid West, the Pacific Northwest and all throughout San Francisco, Big Sur and Monterey.

This show here at Lunaria was special not only because of the Leo moon rising in Saturn, but because of the cohesiveness of her band, this time adding drums and percussion to enhance an already dynamic sound. Back once again on Piano was the melodic and ever so masterful John Rangel. Trevor Ware played Bass with such precision, creativity and beauty. Chris Steel, with us by way of the jazz scene in Pittsburgh and Cleveland, displays his fine rhythmic talent, a favorite among the crowd. And the so very multi-talented Derf Reklaw on Percussion, Flute, Yodel and simulated bottle put in, as always, another fine performance.

This was not only a birthday celebration but, was also billed as a jam session and some of LA’s outstanding talents dropped in. Tim Harmony came by, pulled out his harmonica, slipped right in a really sparks up the crowd with an impromptu creation on “Bohemian Girl”. Brian Swartz brought his trumpet by and blended in the sounds of Miles and Morgan. Bass player and chiropractor Dr. Herb Crosby added his electricity, in both senses of the word, with a stunning solo on “All Blues”. And one of the worlds most amazing and captivating voices on the planet, Dwight Trible, just back from the North Sea, blessed us with peace, love and the spirit of Trane as well as delivering the most wonderful version of Abbey Lincoln’s “Throw it Away”.

Hydeus Kiatta’s career is reaching new plateaus every day. Currently, she is working on producing a DVD of her performances that will mostly be for press but, I am sure that she will give us a peek as well! A beautiful night of music, love and celebration.
