The sun shines in as the delightful sounds of Ali Ryerson Quartet play beautiful versions of standards ranging from Jobim, to Chick Corea to Wayne Shorter. Ali, who grew up in a musical family, has played with some of the most notable players in the business like Dr. Billy Taylor, Kenny Barron, Frank Wess, Roy Haynes, the late Art Farmer and many others.

Ali has a number of disc credited to her library including her latest called, “Flutology” She likes to make direct contact with her audience to keep it up close, personal and intimate. The music was light and lovely as she floated on the waves of her rhythm section. Paul Kreibich, yes Meryl Kreibich’s husband, one of our finest and adaptable drummers in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Los Angeles was there filling up the space with percussive precision making it look so easy. Stan Smith on guitar played some of the most soothing, tasteful chords progressions and Roger Hines, who played with Dianne Shuure for many years, brought his electric fretless and added a nice lyrical bottom tones to the music.

As Ali played pieces like, “A Child is Born” from “Flutology”, it just made you want to grab you partner and waltz between the tables and through out the lobby! The perfect recipe for mellow summertime twilight jazz music!

Ali just got back from vacation on the island of Kauai. Still feeling the spirit, she brought back some of that enthusiasm to share with us in her music. Ali played flute and Alto flute and the sound gives you such a warm feeling. Like a cozy warm blanket under the stars on a cool summer night with someone special. Music that makes you feel good all over!

You can check out more music and pick up Ali’s latest disc “Flutology” on her website at www.aliryerson.com. It will make for romantic evenings, peaceful solitude and wonderful times in the company of good friends! Enjoy
