On my way to Yoshi's for McCoy!

by on Jan.31, 2004, under News

Would you believe that I have never been to Yoshi's!

Well it is true and this coming weekend will be my first endevor. McCoy

Tyner is doing a 2 week residency with a trio and a quintet. Both bands

should be fantastic. My boy Christian McBride is playing in the Trio

so, you still have tonight and tomorrow to see that band. I will be

there next Friday night for the 10pm show. Come on down and get you

tickets quick because the shows are selling out fast! If you do come on

Friday night, please stop by and say hello!

New York in March with Eric Person!

by on Jan.28, 2004, under News

Hey everyone,

I just booked a flight to New York City in March! I love New York and all of the energy that the city has for jazz! On March 20th I am going to my boy E's gig (Eric Person) at Joe's Pub in Manhattan.

Last year Eric came out with a phenomenal disc on his own label called “Live at Big Sur”.

It was recorded at the Big Sur Jazz festival and he said that the band

never sounded so good! I was at the gig and he asked me to introduce

the band and of course I was more than happy to do so.

We had fun hangin', jokin' and talking about the music and the

business. Brad Mehldau and Omar Sosa also performed later that day. It

is unfortunate that the Big Sur Jazz fest, at this moment, is defunct

but, we got a great recording out of it!

You can hear some sample tunes on Eric's site . Also the information for the gig is here

So if you are in or plan on being in the NYC on March 20th, we are going to have a party at Joe's Pub so you have to be there!

I of course will take some photos and let you know about the whole experience! It's going to be the BOMB!
